Authorities and reports in Louisiana claim that a tourist was fatally beaten in his hotel room in New Orleans while his wife ran away to the bathroom.
Currently, a suspect is in custody and facing charges.
According to a police department news release from December 2, while on the scene, officers discovered a man who was not a hotel guest.
Martin Hurtado, a 29-year-old man, was detained in connection with the incident and charged with second-degree murder on one count.
According to the coroner, Sorenson died from blunt force trauma, according to NOLAcom.
According to the affidavit, which was obtained by WWL, Sorenson's wife got up to open the door when the fire alarm went off while she was dozing in the couple's room.
Hurtado suddenly entered the space and started attacking Sorenson at that point.
At the Orleans Parish Justice Center, Hurtado continues to be detained.
